Manuscript Review
What is a manuscript review?
A manuscript review is a detailed report on your completed first draft – or perhaps your second or third draft. You receive chapter-by-chapter feedback on plot, pacing, characterisation and adherence to genre, along with advice for practical fixes. You get feedback on what's working well too.
Who needs a manuscript review?
If you've completed a full draft and want feedback on how to strengthen it, this service is for you. It can help identify issues such as plot holes or poor pacing. The feedback should put you in a good place for revising your manuscript, especially if you plan to self-publish or send your manuscript to an agent or publisher.
What do I get?
You receive a detailed report with analysis of strengths and areas for development, including practical advice for improvement.
The report includes chapter-by-chapter notes.
Why bother with a manuscript review?
Investing in copyediting and/or proofreading is a waste of time and money if the manuscript as a whole has significant flaws. A manuscript review gives you a fresh take on where your strengths lie and where you need to tighten up.
How does it work?
1. Send your manuscript
At this stage, we agree terms and I invoice for a deposit.
2. I do the work!
I read your manuscript and take notes, then complete the full report by the agreed deadline. I may or may not be in touch throughout the process – it depends!
3. Delivery
You receive your report and use it to refine your work. I submit the final invoice.
